How much did, in your opinion, the near extinction of the European jewry affect modern Europe?

Economically Europe did well enough in the postwar period, long after much of it had become "judenrein." And politically, one key diference between Europe and America is striking. European states are virtually free to pursue Mideast policies which are in their own best interest. France, Britain etc depend on imported Arab oil, and want to sell to Arab markets. To facilitate good economic relations, they do not support Israel to anywhere near the same degree as the US does. Because Europe has few jews, politicians in France and elsewhere are not forced to back Israel to get Jewish votes and financial backing. The result is that they have avoided becoming as embroiled in the Mideast conflict as the US, where pro-Israel policies contributed to 9/11 and the costly decision to invade Iraq.
