Why does Lorelei name her daughter Lorelei in Gilmore Girls?

She said she was all hopped up on Demerol and figured guys name their sons after them so why couldn't she name her daughter after her. And they probably call her Rory because they lived with her parents when Rory was young and calling them both by the same name would've been confusing. It's Rory because Lory gets turned into Rory (same as Bill from William, from Richard etc)
