I'm confused about my guitar buying HELP!!!!!!?

Okay, so im a complete beginner guitarist, about to take lessons. and today i bought an electric guitar. because it was cheaper than most acoustics. but i bought an amp and everything and it ended up being more than the nice acoustics i was loookking at. but i still bought it. and me and my friends are starting to jam and i was switching from violin. so i chose guitar. and now i dont know to return guitar and buy a nice acoustic. HELP
