How to Wire Accesories on an 04 Yamaha R1?

The problem with the way you want to do it is that the bikes wires are made to pull X amount of voltage.When you tap into something else there is always the possibility of overloading that particular circuit and maybe even burnin some wires up.The smarter way to do it -is with the switch,like you had it,just make sure you put a fuse in the link.
